We are thrilled to officially launch our new research project, DESMOL2PRO, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) – German Research Foundation as part of the research unit FOR 5730.
Last week, eight researchers and their respective principal investigators from Germany and Austria gathered at Leibniz Universität Hannover to kick off this interdisciplinary initiative. DESMOL2PRO is structured into three tightly connected units – Computational, Biocatalysis, and Engineering – with a shared goal: customize DES-based reaction media to design a specifically adjusted solvent environment for biocatalysis based on the molecular interactions between the DESs and those biocatalysts. ⚗️
The launch event featured an overview of each subunit, in-depth presentations of the individual research projects, and strategic discussions that laid the foundation for collaboration and a common scientific vision.
A highlight of the week was a three-day, hands-on summer school hosted by Institute of Technical Chemistry (TCI) and University of Stuttgart , where researchers engaged in sessions on research data management, neural networks, multivariate data analysis, and AI applications in protein folding. 💻 🧬
We are excited to embark on this journey, aiming to push the boundaries of knowledge in the promising field of deep eutectic solvents.
A sincere thank you to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) – German Research Foundation and Austrian Science Fund FWF for supporting our research and enabling this collaboration.
📌 Stay tuned for updates as we move forward!
