It was time again for another lecture within our DESMOl2PRO consortium, this time from Dr. Lindner, member and bioinformatics expert of the Institute of Technical Chemistry (TCI), who gave us a great “Introduction into Bayesian optimization (& Gaussian processes)”.
During his presentation he not only taught us the workflow on how to perform Bayesian optimization to reduce the number of our (partly expensive to evaluate) experiments and explained why a Gaussian process is most commonly used as the surrogate model. He also gave tips about how we should construct or wet lab experiments in terms of initial experiment design and number of examined parameters.
We want to thank Patrick for his time and for explaining this important bioinformatic topic so very understandable! 🙏
